Give to the Needy This Christmas

While you’re finishing up some last minute Christmas shopping this week, remember that it’s the perfect time to pick up a few extra gifts for some people who are less fortunate and who may not be getting anything this Christmas. This is both a fulfilling activity and an important lesson for you to share with your kids. Before they open their pile of gifts on Christmas morning help them put things in perspective. Many kids don’t realize how many people have next to nothing and that there are people like that in their very own community.

Buy and wrap some brand new toys for kids and drop them off to a local charity. Or, better yet, help a family who is down on their luck and buy presents that are specifically chosen for each member of the family. Wrap them up and deliver them to the family. There are several organizations or churches who can match you up with a family to help. Your children will forever remember the looks on the faces of the family’s children who didn’t think Christmas would come for them. And it will help your children and your whole family to be more compassionate and to remember the true meaning of Christmas.

  1. We always have to think on those unfortune kids that do not have anything for christmas. Nice article

  2. This is a holiday tradition in my house. Each of my children has to choose one of their presents to donate to a needy child. My babies are growing up humble and giving.
