Guilt Free Snack Ideas

guilt-free-snack-ideasI have always been fairly lucky when it has come to maintaining my weight. I always had a very high metabolism and was very active growing up, even into my early 20’s, and never had to focus on what I ate. Now that I am a new mother to three children I have not been able to find as much time to work out or prepare meals the way I have wanted to. For the first time in my life I have to watch what I eat and it isn’t always easy. I would much rather eat a bag of Doritos than a celery stick! I want to share with you all a few easy, guilt free snack ideas that have helped me stay on track with my weight loss efforts. It isn’t always easy, but if you eat healthy meals but crappy snacks all your efforts will be in vein.

  • Raw carrots and sun butter. This is honestly an amazing combination of flavors. It doesn’t sound great, but the first time I tried it I fell in love and now I am completely hooked. The sun butter tastes identical to peanut butter but does not carry the same inflammatory properties and is much healthier for you. Another delicious favorite of mine is apple bagels and sun butter. You cut the core of the apple out and slice it into O’s. It’s fun, delicious, and even the kids will love it!
  • Raw vegetables and hummus. Hummus is still a carb so watch your intake, but it is much healthier than dips and/or dressings and makes eating that raw cauliflower a lot easier!
  • Nuts are always a great snack. They are filling and full of the good fats. The best ones to go for are almonds or walnuts. Both also contain plenty of protein which is great for weight loss/management. Cashews are a great source of minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus and zinc. I, personally, cannot stand the texture of nuts so I tend to blend them in with a smoothie as an afternoon snack.
  • Greek yogurt and mixed berries are also a satisfying and delicious quick, go to snack. However, do not get the yogurts with berries already mixed in as they contain a lot of unnecessary, harmful additives. Fresh black, blue and raspberries are always a delicious combination!
  • Half of an avocado with a little bit of pepper is ah-ma-zing! Also try it with a scoop of cottage cheese in the center. This is one of my favorite snacks as they are high in protein and fiber. You will stay satisfied until your next meal!
  • Frozen fruit lollipops are a great go to on those hot summer days. Fill an ice tray with pureed fruits and stick a lollipop stick in the top and freeze. If you need added sweetness add some honey and stay away from the sugar!
  • Fruit kabobs are quick, easy and you can make ahead of time for a super quick grab on the way out. A great combination is grapes, kiwis, strawberries and pineapples on a tooth pick.

I hope you have found at least one of these healthy, delicious quick snack ideas to be helpful for you and/or your little angel!———————————————————————————————————————————————————————

it is like peanut butter just made from sunflower seeds instead of nuts… it’s so good and a lot cheaper than almond butter… it tastes really good on strawberries, pineapples and kiwis, too (i know that sounds gross, but i highly recommend it lol)!
