Participating in Charity Events

Have you ever thought about doing something to help others in need? If you are like me, you are always looking to help someone in any way possible. Weather it be an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, give a helping hand, giving your last dollar to help someone in need, doing little things to remind others they are loved and thought of or just simply letting your friends and family know you are always there no matter what the case may be.

It is an amazing feeling to know you have done your best to help others in anyway you can. What better way to help others and have a fun night out, as all of us parents know, a night out for a little adult time is much needed every now and then.

Last night my husband, sister-in-law, mother-in-law and I went to a charity event at One80 Grey Goose lounge, the bar atop the Amway Arena in Orlando, FL. The event was an 80′s flash back theme party for the charity called “Smiles for Hope”. The event was put on by an orthodontic office striving to raise as much money as possible for the charity that they have at their office. The charities purpose is for under privileged children who have big dreams of becoming successful in life. Giving them a movie star smile is merely a confidence booster from out of this world. If you could imagine those of us who have ever had braces, like myself. It is a great feeling knowing that your teeth are now what most consider correct, or picture perfect.

At this charity event they had many sponsors, a live band, raffle drawings with prizes that were donated to the charity, costume contests and a chocolate fountain that my husband could not stay away from! It was such an enjoyable night out. What made it even more enjoyable was knowing we were helping children dreams of having a perfect smile become a reality.

This is important to all children of all ages. I am sure we all have made contact with a child at one time or another who would give the world for a straight smile. Well, this particular orthodontic office is doing just that. “Smiles for hope” not only gives the children braces to insure a perfect smile but they also come pick the children up from their house in a limo and take them to their orthodontic appointments. How cool would that be?

On those child-free nights when you go back and forth on what to do with your time, think about attending a charity event. There are many websites that show all the charity events in your area. I encourage you to attend one, the feeling you get from attending will be almost overwhelming and I promise it will not be the last one you attend.
