Two Pantry Must-Haves

pantry-must-havesFor several years I have been a huge advocate for Apple Cider Vinegar. I, personally, use it on my animals, for my children and I for health care reasons, on my salads, and any miscellaneous requirements around our house (such as non toxic cleansing/disinfecting, bug control) etc.

During my most recent pregnancy I started drinking this, rather than caffeine, to protect the precious life inside of me. I came across a wonderful recipe and tried it for a few weeks. I am sure the recipe is amazing for those who are not completely addicted to caffeine; however, because I am one of the several million who cannot go a day without it, I decided to concoct my own recipe to help sustain my energy naturally. I began drinking this immediately upon waking up in the morning, again around 11 am and finally close to 3 pm. This drink not only provided the weight loss I desired but the significant energy source required to keep me functioning throughout the day. The recipe is as follows:

3 oz organic orange juice (I use Matt’s Orange Juice)

3 oz organic Pineapple Juice (find in the Publix GreenWise Section)

4 drops lime juice

2 tbs Dr. Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar (Publix GreenWise Section or in your local GNC retailer)

1 tsp organic honey

Sprinkle with all natural cinnamon

This drink provides more energy than I have ever experienced in one Monster or cup of coffee and I have never experienced the drastic side effects sugar and/or caffeine may cause.

Then I was introduced to Unrefined Coconut Oil, which is honestly the miracle oil of all oils. I use it for cooking, baking, sautéing; I substitute it for butter and olive oil, I use it as a foot moisturizer, healing my children’s itchy bug bites, suffocating and ridding lice, ridding and preventing fleas from our pets and around our house, moisturizing my family’s skin, ridding my husband of his acne, etc. You may use this oil for literally anything (and it doesn’t smell horrendous like ACV). There is no odor nor taste. It is an antibacterial/anti fungal oil that will literally heal skin irritations overnight. It is also a healthy alternative to vegetable/canola/whatever oil you choose to cook with. When you purchase organic, unrefined coconut oil, it can be your best friend and savior for numerous ailments.

  1. thanks! i have never heard of using coconut oil instead of olive oil, but i will give it a try!

      i have honestly gotten to where i don’t even purchase any other oil b/c i can use it for everything! i have also been told 1tsp a day helps to cleanse your system. i don’t do that, but some of my friends swear that is the reason they never get sick :)

      acv and raw, local honey is also beneficial if you have really bad allergies.
